Report: Barcelona, Chelsea join race to sign Christian Eriksen

Teams from England, Spain, Italy and Germany are all reportedly interested in signing Christian Eriksen, who is due to become a free agent at the end of next season.

Real Madrid reportedly face competition from Chelsea and bitter rivals Barcelona in the race to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Danish playmaker is believed to have ruled out signing a contract extension with the Lilywhites, meaning that he will become a free agent at the end of next season.

Madrid have long been considered the favourites to sign the 26-year-old, but Spanish outlet AS suggests that they will have to fight hard for the Ajax youth product's signature.

Teams from England, Spain, Italy and Germany are said to have shown an interest, with Barca keen on a creative talent in midfield and Chelsea also looking for something a little different in that area of the field.

Despite the growing interest in Eriksen, however, the report indicates that Madrid are still currently the Dane's preferred option.
