Report: Atletico Madrid still in for Fernando Torres

A report claims that Atletico Madrid are still hopeful of signing Chelsea forward Fernando Torres this summer.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly still interested in signing Chelsea forward Fernando Torres this summer.

The 30-year-old had been widely expected to depart Stamford Bridge before the start of the 2014-15 campaign following the arrival of Diego Costa from Atletico.

However, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has thus far insisted that the Spanish international is not for sale.

According to AS, Atletico are still hopeful of convincing the Premier League side to part with the experienced forward, who scored 91 times for Atletico between 2001 and 2007.

Torres is still seen as a cult hero with the Atletico fans, with the club believed to be exploring all avenues in order to make the move happen.
