Juan Mata: 'Chelsea want me to stay at the club'

Juan Mata says that Chelsea have told the midfielder that he is "important" to the club and he has no intentions of leaving Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has insisted that he has no plans to leave Stamford Bridge and is bemused by questions over his future.

The Spain international has been linked with an exit from the Blues this summer, despite being named the Premier League outfit's player of the 2012-13 campaign.

"I don't know where that came from," Mata told AS. "The last time I spoke with the club they told me I was a very important player to them and transmitted confidence in me."

Meanwhile, Fernando Torres, who has also been touted as a possible Chelsea departure, recently reiterated his commitment to the club.
