Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, who is said to be eager to move to Stamford Bridge.

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is reportedly keen to secure a transfer to Chelsea this summer.

Despite missing out on a deal for the France international during 2021, Chelsea are eager to secure the signature of the centre-back before the start of next season.

The Premier League club are on the brink of confirming their takeover, a development which would give them the green light to strengthen their squad ahead of 2022-23.

According to The Sun, Chelsea have been boosted by the player wanting to tie up a move as soon as possible, the 23-year-old believing that he can establish himself as first-choice in Thomas Tuchel's plans.

Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are both departing Stamford Bridge on free transfers, freeing up space for Kounde and potential other arrivals to compete for a regular spot.

Chelsea remain confident that they will be able to sign Kounde for less than his £68m release clause, the player having just two years left on his contract.
