Chelsea have reportedly edged nearer to completing the signing of Marcos Alonso after it was claimed that the defender was due in London for a medical.
The former Sunderland full-back has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the past seven days, and it appears that the Blues are close to strengthening their backline with the acquisition of the 25-year-old.
According to Sky Sports News, Alonso has boarded a flight to England and it is alleged that he could begin a medical with the Premier League club as early as Tuesday night.
It has previously been suggested that Chelsea were prepared to pay £21.3m for Alonso, who began his career at Real Madrid.
In three years at Fiorentina, Alonso has scored five goals in 84 appearances in all competitions.
