New Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has conceded that he is likely to play second fiddle to Petr Cech next season.
The 40-year-old completed his switch to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer earlier this evening having made over 500 Premier League appearances for Middlesbrough and Fulham since arriving in England in 1997.
However, despite being used to regular starting action, the Australian international has admitted that he is aware that he could now spend some time among the substitutes.
"I know that Cech is number one and he is a fantastic goalkeeper," he told Sky Sports News. "I want to try and push myself as much as possible.
"I want to improve as a goalkeeper. There are a lot of games throughout the season and I'm sure if I do as well I know I can, I will get some opportunities."
Schwarzer also confirmed that he is keen to be part of the Australia squad for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
