Manuel Pellegrini: Chelsea played "like Stoke City"

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini claims that Chelsea played "like a small team" and compares the Blues to Stoke City following their 1-1 on Sunday.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has likened Chelsea's approach in their 1-1 draw on Sunday to a "small team like Stoke City".

Frank Lampard cancelled out Andre Schurrle's opener at the Etihad, but the City boss was critical of Jose Mourinho's tactics, and was unflattering in his comparison with the Potters.

He told reporters after the game: "We had one team playing as a big team and one big team playing as a small team, like Stoke City.

"I think we played 90 minutes against a small team just trying to defend, trying to just to keep 10 players in front of their goal.

"[We were] the team that wanted to win from the beginning, we had two or three clear chances especially in the second and after we went down to 10 players we continued trying to win."

The Potters beat City 1-0 at the Etihad last month.
