David Luiz is delighted to have made 50 appearances for Chelsea following Saturday's 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic.

David Luiz was delighted to have made 50 appearances for Chelsea following Saturday's 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic.

Juan Mata scored in injury time to earn the Blues the three points against the struggling Latics at Stamford Bridge.

"I am happy because it is fantastic to play for Chelsea and 50 games in one year is so good," Luiz told reporters.

"This league is so difficult, injuries are always possible but I am happy to play so many games.

"To start the season injured is hard, the other guys have more fitness and preparation so it was difficult but now we are the same and I am happy with my body."

Luiz moved to Chelsea from Benfica in January 2011 for around £20.5m.
