QPR's Shaun Derry believes that Chelsea players 'lost their heads' at Loftus Road on Sunday.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Shaun Derry has dismissed Andre Villas-Boas's rant at referee Chris Foy after the Blues lost 1-0 at Loftus Road on Sunday.

Villas-Boas launched a furious tirade against Foy after he sent off two Chelsea players and awarded the penalty that resulted in the only goal of the game.

Rangers star Derry believes, however, that Chelsea players 'lost their heads' during the game.

"I don't think we were vicious or over-aggressive in anything we did," Derry said.

"It's just that these top, top players aren't used to losing - and they aren't used to losing to teams of our stature.

"It obviously hurt them because they showed even the best players can lose their heads sometimes. Most of the yellow cards were for Chelsea players, but we kept our heads."

The 33-year-old defensive midfielder also criticised Villas-Boas's rant at Foy.

"It's very easy to come out and say things like that" Derry commented. "From my angle I thought the ref got the big decisions right.

"Shaun Wright-Phillips was through on goal when he was fouled by the last man. The second red card was a centre-forward's challenge. Maybe Drogba doesn't make many of them, but it was a straight red. For me, the sendings-off were the right decisions. I thought he reffed it superbly.

"These big players have a knack of persuading refs to make different decisions but the ref was very strong."

QPR are currently tenth in the Premier League, with 12 points from nine games.
