Andre Villas-Boas defends his players after their controversial 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has defended his players after a fiery 1-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers resulted in two red cards, an FA charge and a police investigation for alleged racist abuse.

Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba were both handed red cards by referee Chris Foy, and Chelsea have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players.

The FA have also asked Villas-Boas to explain a scathing assessment of the performance of Foy made after the game.

The match was also marred by allegations of racist abuse by John Terry towards Anton Ferdinand, which has sparked an FA investigation and police probe.

"There is no indiscipline and there is no aggressiveness in my players," Villas-Boas insisted.

"But the referee was card-happy and that's why I stick by what I said."

Chelsea travel to Everton tonight for a fourth-round Carling Cup tie.
