Half-Time Report: Oscar hands Chelsea advantage

Oscar scores on the stroke of half time to earn Chelsea a 1-0 lead over Basel in their Champions League meeting.

Oscar has scored just before the break to give Chelsea a 1-0 advantage midway through their Champions League clash with Basel.

The attacking trio of Oscar, Willian and Eden Hazard looked dangerous in the early stages but Chelsea found it difficult to break down a determined Basel defence.

Despite Chelsea's dominance, they were often forced to shoot from distance and Hazard went close with a powerful effort following good play with Samuel Eto'o.

Basel threatened to take the lead against the run of play on a couple of occasions, with Mohamed Salah just inches away from a fine solo goal when he curled the ball over the crossbar.

Oscar ended the frustration inside Stamford Bridge by opening the goalscoring moments before the whistle with a drilled finish following a smart pass from Frank Lampard.
