Charlton Athletic part company with manager Russell Slade

Charlton Athletic sack manager Russell Slade less than six months after appointing him, with the search for a seventh boss in the space of three years now underway.

Russell Slade has been sacked as manager of Charlton Athletic after less than six months in the job.

The 56-year-old's position has been on the line since Saturday's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Swindon Town, which left the Addicks 15th in the League One table.

That clash at the County Ground was just Slade's 16th league game in charge, having been appointed in the summer following his departure from Cardiff City.

Slade is the sixth manager to leave Athletic since January 2014, with Jose Riga taking on two spells during that time at a club plagued by off-field troubles.

Charlton, relegated from the Championship last term, have won three games in all this season and are currently three points above the bottom four.
