Moussa Dembele eyeing Champions League football

New Celtic striker Moussa Dembele sets his sights on helping the team to qualify for the Champions League proper.

New Celtic signing Moussa Dembele has revealed that the prospect of playing Champions League football was a big factor behind his decision to move to the club.

The 19-year-old striker joined the Bhoys from Fulham yesterday, becoming manager Brendan Rodgers's first signing since taking over from Ronny Deila.

Celtic will take on either Flora of Estonia or Gibraltar's Lincoln Red Imps in the second qualifying round of Europe's premier club competition next month, and Dembele is confident that they can make it to the tournament proper.

"I signed for Celtic because it's a massive club in Europe. I want to play in the Champions League and I think I can do this here," he told reporters.

"It would be special. As a young boy you always dream of playing in the Champions League. We have a chance to do that this season. It's up to us, we have to win the qualifiers. I want to score goals, I'm a striker. I want to score goals and win trophies because Celtic is a club that wins trophies.

"I came to Celtic to improve. I was in the Championship and I've come to the Scottish Premiership. I see my future here and hopefully I can score a lot of goals for the club and win many trophies."

Dembele joins Celtic on a four-year deal for a six-figure compensation fee.
