Brazil coach Mano Menezes insists that he can lead his country to glory in the 2014 World Cup.

Brazil coach Mano Menezes has insisted that he can still secure World Cup glory in 2014 despite losing the Olympic final 2-1 to Mexico.

Menezes was expected to lead his side to gold at the Games, but two goals from Mexico's Oribe Peralta meant that they had to settle for silver.

"We will continue on our path to the next World Cup. We are very sorry not to have won gold but 2014 remains our goal. Defeat in one match, just like history, should not have a decisive influence," he told reporters.

However, Menezes has been criticised by former Brazil striker Romario.
