Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe positive despite defeat

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe suggests that his side were unfortunate not to get a better result in the 1-0 League Cup fourth-round defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that he is pleased with his side's performance despite losing to Liverpool in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.

Nathaniel Clyne scored the only goal of the game in the first half as the Reds recorded their first victory under Jurgen Klopp with a 1-0 win at Anfield.

Junior Stanislas and Matt Ritchie were denied by home goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, but Howe insisted that he took a lot of positives from the loss and suggested that he felt his side should have at least taken the hosts to extra time.

"I think that we should have got something from the game," he told reporters. "We created some good chances in both halves, but especially in the first half we had that cutting edge and their keeper made some good saves.

"Some of our passing and build-up play was very good - the only thing missing was the goals. We grew into the game, even in the second half when we didn't create chances, we played well.

"We don't want to get used to losing, but it was a positive day for us."

Next up for the Cherries is a return to Premier League action with a trip to face Southampton at St Mary's on Sunday.
