The pressure continues to mount on Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle following his side's 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle United.

Newcastle United found the net on two occasions at the Reebok Stadium this afternoon to heap more pressure on Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle.

Neither side managed to carve out a goalscoring chance of any note during the opening 45 minutes.

However, in the 69th minute the deadlock was broken by Haten Ben Arfa. Full-back Ryan Taylor was the creator, cutting the ball back for the Frenchman who volleyed into the net from 12 yards out.

The away side's advantage was doubled just one minute later when Gabriel Obertan sent over a cross which the club's leading goalscorer Demba Ba turned via the underside of the crossbar.

Coyle's side were unable to find a route back into the fixture, meaning that they remain second from bottom in the Premier League table.
