Newcastle boss Alan Pardew describes his side's 3-2 defeat at home to West Brom as "upsetting".

Newcastle United manager has described his side's 3-2 defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion as "upsetting".

Demba Ba twice drew the Magpies level after goals from Peter Odemwingie and Gareth McAuley.

However, Paul Scharner's late strike condemned the Magpies to their sixth straight league game without a win.

"It's an upsetting game for us to lose because we are at home," Pardew told Sky Sports News.

"We came back from a goal down. We was bossing proceedings, looking like we were going to get back into it, and when we got the second goal it set us up for a grand stand finish.

"But then to get done on the counter attack because of us looking for the win, maybe we were a little bit too desperate tonight."

Newcastle, who are seventh in the Premier League table after the defeat, travel to Bolton Wanderers on Boxing Day.
