A swap deal involving Barcelona winger Ansu Fati and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves reportedly remains a possibility.

Barcelona reportedly remain hopeful that a swap deal involving Ansu Fati and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves will still take place.

Despite winning the La Liga title, the Catalan giants have been aware for some time that they will need to generate funds to sign new players this summer.

Although parting ways with a number of fringe members will materialise, cashing in on a major asset is realistically required if they wish to make progress with additions and new contracts.

Fati has recently been linked with an exit from Camp Nou, a consequence of mainly featuring as a substitute this campaign, but his father Bori Fati has stated that the winger will stay put.

That stance has ramifications for the likes of Neves with Barcelona allegedly not regarding the Wolves man as a priority signing but recognising that a part-exchange deal is their best chance of making progress with their books.

While such a deal was not believed to remain on the table, Sport claims that work is being done behind the scenes to facilitate such a transfer.

The report claims that Barcelona will only sign Neves if Fati makes the switch in the opposite direction, ensuring that Barcelona would not be shelling out any money.

Instead, as has been reported in the past, Wolves paying €30m (£26.1m) plus Neves for Fati are Barcelona's desired terms, and Wolves are seemingly willing to comply.

Neves again addressed his future at the weekend having appeared to wave goodbye to the Wolves fans at the end of his sixth campaign at Molineux.

The Portugal international has acknowledged that he wants to play Champions League football, and it is claimed that a four-year deal is already agreed with Barcelona.

If a deal goes through, it is alleged to be 'very beneficial' for all parties, particularly on Barcelona's side who need to raise money before June 30.

Nevertheless, Fati is yet to give the green light, while Wolves have FFP issues of their own and are expected to first have to facilitate their own sales.

That is likely to be assisted by big-earner Joao Moutinho departing on a free transfer and Raul Jimenez leaving for pastures new with one year left on his contract.
