Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has insisted that he is "not like" the Spanish club's former stopper Victor Valdes.
Valdes was Barcelona's number one for the best part of 12 years before leaving the club in 2014.
Ter Stegen arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach the same year, and the German has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of seasons.
The 26-year-old has often been compared to Valdes due to his use of the ball, but Ter Stegen has insisted that he has his own style.
"What makes a modern goalkeeper is that he has to be good with his feet, whilst he should always be attentive behind the defence in case there is a ball over the top he has to anticipate," Ter Stegen told Panenka.
"Of course, at Barca they have always had a brave keeper who is good with his feet, who helped the team, since the time of Victor Valdes. But I'm not like Valdes and didn't want to be. My idol was Oliver Kahn. Our style is different but I focused on him because of his mentality."
Ter Stegen is already fast closing in on 150 appearances for Barcelona.
