Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has said that Paris Saint-Germain will rise to power in European football after a summer of heavy spending.
Puyol continued his rehabilitation from a knee injury by playing for Barcelona against PSG in a thrilling pre-season friendly which ended with Barca winning on penalties.
The Spanish international told reporters: "Our opponents should soon rise to power with their new arrivals.
"The team is capable of doing something in Ligue 1 and also in the Champions League."
PSG have made a number of notable signings during the close season, with Carlo Ancelotti completing deals for trio Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi from Serie A.
