Gerard Pique heading for new Barcelona deal

Barcelona prepare to hand centre-back Gerard Pique a new long-term contract.

Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus has revealed that Gerard Pique is in line for a new long-term contract with the Spanish champions.

The centre-back's current deal will expire in 2015, but Faus has confirmed that talks are underway to extend the former Manchester United defender's stay at the Camp Nou.

"We are preparing an offer for a new deal and it will be presented to his agent soon," Faus told RAC 1.

Pique, who re-joined Barcelona from United in 2008, has 59 Spanish caps to his name.
