Luis Enrique: 'Aleix Vidal situation could change'

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique denies suggestions that Aleix Vidal's career with the Spanish champions is over.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has insisted that Aleix Vidal's career with the club is not over, despite the Spaniard being left out of Enrique's last four first-team squads.

Vidal was expected to battle Sergi Roberto for the right-back spot at Camp Nou this season, but Enrique appears to have settled on Roberto as his first choice in that position, while Javier Mascherano has also been deployed in that area this term.

Despite Vidal's continued absence from the squad, Enrique has denied suggestions that the former Sevilla attacker will now stay out of his selection for the remainder of the campaign.

"It seems perfect that [people] can form an opinion [on Aleix]. It's his life and my decisions speak for themselves. Aleix is training swimmingly and trying to change a situation that's not good for him. If there's a coach that a player can change their situation under, it's me," the coach told reporters.

Barcelona lost two right-backs in the summer transfer window, with Dani Alves leaving to join Juventus and Douglas making the move to Sporting Gijon on loan.
