Atletico Madrid forward David Villa has revealed his 'excitement' after being named in the Spain squad for the World Cup this summer.
The 32-year-old is his country's all-time leading scorer with 56 goals, but the experienced striker was not a certainty to travel with La Roja for the tournament in Brazil.
Head coach Vicente del Bosque selected the former Barcelona attacker in his squad earlier today, however, with Villa heading for his third World Cup.
"So happy to have been called up by Spain for the World Cup in Brazil! I'm as excited for my third World Cup like the first day!" he tweeted.
Villa has reportedly this afternoon completed a medical with MLS outfit New York City.
