Tiago suffers muscle injury

Atletico Madrid confirm that Tiago suffered a muscular injury in his side's 2-0 win over Espanyol on Sunday.

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Portuguese midfielder Tiago suffered a muscular injury in Sunday's 2-0 win over Espanyol.

The 33-year-old, who signed a new deal with Atletico in the summer, departed early in the second half of the La Liga clash after opening the scoring.

A statement from the Spanish champions has revealed that the midfielder suffered a muscular injury to his left leg, but it is not said to be serious.

That said, the injury is expected to keep the experienced international out of this week's Champions League clash against Malmo.
