Diego Simeone has demanded an improvement from Atletico Madrid after they kicked off the Primera Liga with a labouring 1-0 win over newly-promoted Las Palmas.
Antoine Griezmann's first-half free kick proved enough for the 2014 champions in Madrid last night, but the Argentine warns that the standard must be raised.
"We could connect quite well through the lines and played quite a lot on the rival's field, I think the first half was played almost entirely on their field," he told reporters.
"We must improve in the depth the team should have, because we are interested in possession but goal bound. We will continue to work on that."
The Rojiblancos travel to Sevilla next Saturday.
