Ron Vlaar dedicates win to Aston Villa fans

Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar believes that the fans deserved to see his side thrash Sunderland 6-1 this evening and admits that he wanted even more goals.

Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar has dedicated his side's 6-1 drubbing of Sunderland in the Premier League this evening to the club's fans.

Vlaar opened the scoring for the hosts before goals from Andreas Weimann, Gabriel Agbonlahor and a Christian Benteke hat-trick sealed all three points for Villa in style.

Vlaar hailed the importance of the two goals his side scored at the start of the second half, but admitted that he wanted even more than the six they managed.

"It's an unbelievable night. It is a long time since this happened so it's really great," said the Villa skipper.

"We scored two very important goals right after half time. The fans really deserve this because they had to wait a long time. We all know what situation we are, we need points. We got three today and also scored a lot of goals which could be important.

"It's a big win. We should've tried to score more because of goal difference, but 6-1 is good."

The win lifts Villa up to 16th in the Premier League table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
