Arsene Wenger to do "everything" to get Jack Wilshere fit for World Cup

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that he will do "absolutely everything" to help Jack Wilshere get fit for the World Cup.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he will do all he can to help midfielder Jack Wilshere get fit for the World Cup.

The 22-year-old has been ruled out for six weeks with a hairline fracture in his left foot.

The French boss has described the midfielder as "very down" after he picked up the injury during England's friendly against Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday.

"When you are Jack's age you just want to play," Arsenal's Twitter account quotes Wenger as saying. "Certainly his injuries are a weight on his mind."

Newspaper reports have also claimed that the Gunners will seek a £600,000 insurance claim against the Football Association for Wilshere's injury, but Wenger added: "Our shock was losing a competitive player, the finance is not my main worry at the moment.

"You want to encourage him to go to the World Cup and I will do absolutely everything to help him get there."

Wenger also claimed that he expects Wenger to return to action in around eight weeks' time.
