Barcelona striker David Villa reportedly tells manager Tito Vilanova that he wants to leave the club this month.

Barcelona striker David Villa has reportedly told the club that he wants to leave in this month's transfer window.

The Spain international was originally linked with a move to Arsenal but Barca boss Tito Vilanova recently revealed that the 31-year-old will not leave Camp Nou.

Despite Vilanova's claims, it is understood that Villa has requested a transfer due to his failure to cement a regular spot in the Barcelona first team, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.

Villa missed the second half of Barca's campaign last season after suffering a broken leg at the Club World Cup in December, 2011.
