Arsenal have reportedly struck a deal with Napoli to sign Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas on a season-long loan.
Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo remain as the Gunners' only recognised marksmen as manager Arsene Wenger has so far failed to add another centre-forward to his ranks.
However, according to South American newspaper La Tercera, the duo will soon face the added competition of Vargas, whom they claim will head to London shortly to finalise the deal.
The 24-year-old, along with Arsenal's £35m man Alexis Sanchez, helped Chile reach the quarter-finals of this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
Should a move materialise, Vargas would represent Wenger's fifth summer signing after the club wrapped up deals for Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and David Ospina.
