Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Marco Asensio is currently in discussions with the Spanish giants over a contract extension.
The 26-year-old has again been an important player for Los Blancos this term, making 36 appearances in all competitions, contributing 10 goals and one assist in the process.
Asensio only has little over 12 months left to run on his contract at Bernabeu, though, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent months.
Ancelotti has branded the Spaniard "a player of extraordinary quality" but has admitted that the attacker's recovery from the serious knee injury that he suffered in 2019 "has been quite slow".
"He is a player of extraordinary quality. In recent years he has suffered a major knee injury, his recovery has been quite slow," Ancelotti told Radio Rai.
"He is an important player and I can only make a technical evaluation. The future? I don't know what will happen – he is talking to the club about the renewal of his contract."
AC Milan and Juventus have recently been credited with an interest in Asensio, while Arsenal and Liverpool have also previously been linked with his services.
