A report claims that Arsenal may offer to send Mesut Ozil to former club Real Madrid in exchange for Spanish playmaker Isco.

Arsenal are reportedly looking into the prospect of a swap deal involving out-of-favour midfield Mesut Ozil and Real Madrid outcast Isco.

Both players appear unsettled at their current clubs after falling out of favour under their respective managers.

Ozil has featured just twice for Arsenal over the past six weeks and was left out of the matchday squad entirely for Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final loss to Tottenham Hotspur, despite Unai Emery confirming that the German has recovered from a back complaint.

It has been a similar story for Isco at Madrid, meanwhile, having started just two games in all competitions since Julen Lopetegui was replaced by Santiago Solari at the end of October.

According to The Independent, the Gunners were worried that they may struggle to find a team willing to pay Ozil's £300,000-a-week wages, though senior figures at the club believe that a solution has now been found.

Los Blancos are happy to offload Isco due to concerns over his fitness, but they value the playmaker at £100m - substantially more than Arsenal can expect to get for their own out-of-form playmaker, who has previously spent three years at the Bernabeu.

Manchester City and Tottenham are also said to be in the running to land Isco, despite his bloated price tag.
