Report: Arsenal lining up Henrikh Mkhitaryan bid

Arsenal are reportedly interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the club this summer, with Arsene Wenger planning a midfield overhaul.

Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on bringing Borussia Dortmund attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 27-year-old was linked to both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur before his move to Germany from Shakhtar Donetsk for £23.5m in 2013.

The Armenia captain has enjoyed an impressive season for Dortmund so far, scoring 20 goals and setting up a further 18 to draw the attention of a number of clubs.

The Guardian reports that Arsenal are among those interested, with Arsene Wenger planning an overhaul of his midfield this summer.

Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky are all out of contract at the end of the campaign and yet to be offered new deals, although the Gunners do still boast a number of attacking midfield options.

Even so, the report claims that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Mkhitaryan with a view to a possible summer move, although Dortmund are also understood to be determined to keep him.

Mkhitaryan's current deal at the club runs out in 2017, and he is set to be offered a lucrative new contract at the end of the season.
