Arsenal legend Bob Wilson: 'Wojciech Szczesny can reclaim keeper spot'

Arsenal legend Bob Wilson believes that Wojciech Szczesny can become Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper once more if he puts in the effort required.

Arsenal legend Bob Wilson believes that Wojciech Szczesny can become Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper once more if he puts in the effort required.

The Polish international has been dropped in recent games for David Ospina, and has not started a league game since their 2-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day.

However, the 24-year-old is expected to start their FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester United on Monday, and Wilson has stated that the young keeper must work hard to hold down a starting place.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Wilson said: "From the time Wojciech got into the Arsenal first team, I thought this boy has the potential to really be a solid, outstanding goalkeeper. I still believe that because he is - for his position - still relatively young.

"All I would a say to him is 'look, Arsenal is one of the greatest football clubs. At your age now you need to dedicate yourself to being the best you can be, to the exclusion of a lot of other things in your life'."

Arsenal, who are aiming to defend their FA Cup title, are looking for their first win at Old Trafford since September 2006.
