Jack Wilshere plays down injury worries

Jack Wilshere declares himself fit for Arsenal's match with Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Jack Wilshere is confident that he will be fit for Arsenal's game against Crystal Palace at the weekend amid his recent injury scare.

The England international was taken off during the Gunners' 2-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday and was seen nursing some ice on his ankle on the bench afterwards.

Despite his history of long-term ankle problems, Wilshere has assured the fans that there is nothing to worry about.

"I jarred it when I was going through [on goal]," Wilshere told reporters. "My ankle stopped and my body went over it and I jarred it a little bit.

"For five or 10 minutes it was painful, then I ran it off, but it made sense to put ice on it. I've done that before, even before I had surgery. It is just one of those things.

"Obviously I will have treatment because it is still a bit swollen, but I should be all right for the weekend."

Arsenal travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
