Harry Redknapp says that it is "important" for Tottenham to finish in third place.

Harry Redknapp has said that it is "important" for Tottenham Hotspur to maintain their third place position this season.

Redknapp, whose side hold a seven-point lead over trailing Chelsea, said this week that he is eager to finish as the highest placed London club in the league, and has reiterated that desire ahead of this afternoon's showdown with Arsenal.

"I want to at least get that third place if we can," he said. "It's the most important thing for me this season.

"We've got a great chance with the position we're in but as I've said, it can all change.

"We have to keep it going and continue as we are at the moment to do it. Above that would be a fantastic bonus. But that third spot, I want that at least."

Tottenham can move 13 points clear of Arsene Wenger's side with a win this afternoon.
