Aaron Ramsey says that Arsenal's British players can help them win a trophy sooner rather than later.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is confident that the club's core of British players will bring success to the club.

The Wales international signed a new contract with the Gunners last week along with English quartet Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson.

The North London outfit have not won a trophy since 2005, but Ramsey believes that the club's British core can change that.

"I'm really pleased to get my contract sorted out," Ramsey told Arsenal Player. "It is great news [that the other four have also signed], all of them are very talented and have a big future.

"Jack always competes, always wants the ball and his determination is second to none. Gibbo is always up and down the flank and gets into some great positions. He scored against Swansea and also has a couple of assists this season, so that's been good for him. Carl is a solid right back with a great engine, who can get up and down his flank as well to support his winger and get crosses in. Chambo is exciting, he can beat a player and can also finish as well.

"Obviously we are going to get better and more experienced, so hopefully we can achieve something with this group of players."
