Garry Monk lauds Swansea City "desire"

Swansea City boss Garry Monk praises the "desire and application" of his team after earning a 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates.

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has praised the "desire and application" of his team after earning a 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners looked good to bounce back from the 6-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday after goals from Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud put them within minutes of victory tonight.

However, Mathieu Flamini diverted the ball into his own net in the dying stages as the Swans earned a vital point in their fight against relegation, prompting Monk to laud the resilience of his troops.

He told reporters: "This team goes to the end, I knew that we would have another chance and hopefully take it. They showed that desire and that application."

Consequently, City move five points clear of the relegation zone ahead of their six-pointer with Norwich City on Saturday.
