Arsene Wenger has admitted that Mesut Ozil struggled to have an impact on the game following his penalty miss in the 2-0 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Ozil failed to beat Manuel Neuer from the spot when the first leg of the last-16 tie was still goalless, and Wenger was critical of the way the German approached the effort from 12 yards.
"I prefer when people run properly at the ball," the Arsenal manager told reporters. "It's his style of play, what can I say? We needed to score that penalty tonight.
"He was affected by it. I think he wanted to do so well tonight, it affected him. You could see he will still shaking his head five to 10 minutes later. It had a huge impact on his performance."
Arsenal will look to overturn the deficit in the second leg at the Allianz Arena on March 11.
