Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes: 'We were excellent across the pitch'

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says that the best from his side may be yet to come after a 3-0 victory over St Mirren took them joint top of the Scottish Premiership.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has lavished praise on his players following their 3-0 win over St Mirren, declaring that they were "excellent" across the park.

The Dons moved level on points with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic thanks to their latest victory, and McInnes believes that they could grow stronger as the season progresses.

"I thought all areas of the team were excellent. We got on top of them [St Mirren] early on. We scored a good first goal. The conditions weren't great, with a gusty wind, and the pitch was very dry," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We asked the players to be more demanding in the second half - more crosses and more balls into space. At 2-0 we got a wee bit gung-ho.

"I saw Shay Logan bombing on when it wasn't needed. The back four and goalkeeper were excellent. We've enjoyed today. The players are in fine fettle. I think we could get stronger."

Adam Rooney netted a brace before Mark Reynolds added a third during the Dons' win.
