Brian Flores joins the Pittsburgh Steelers as their new defensive assistant/linebacker coach after filing a lawsuit against the NFL and three teams over alleged racism.

Brian Flores - the former Miami Dolphins head coach who has filed a lawsuit against the NFL - has joined the Pittsburgh Steelers as their new defensive assistant/linebacker coach.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the 40-year-old was suing the NFL, the Dolphins, Denver Broncos and New York Giants over alleged racial discrimination in hiring practices.

All accused teams and the NFL have denied such claims, but Flores has managed to secure a new role with the Steelers, one week after Teryl Austin was promoted to defensive coordinator.

A statement from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin read: "I am excited about Brian Flores joining our coaching staff given his history of developing and teaching defensive players during his time in the NFL. Brian's resume speaks for itself, and I look forward to him adding his expertise to help our team."

Flores was fired from the Dolphins in January after posting a 24-25 (.490) record in his first head coach job and then proceeded to accuse owner Stephen Ross of offering him $100,000 to deliberately lose games.

The ex-New England Patriots assistant also alleged that the Giants did not interview any minority ethnic candidates for the head coach job as per the Rooney Rule, while the Broncos have been accused of interviewing Flores without having any intention of hiring him.
