Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson has wished Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley a speedy recovery from his neck injury.
Finley suffered a bruised spinal cord in his neck when Tipson hit him at the end of a 10-yard reception during Sunday's match between the two sides, being rushed to an intensive care unit following lengthy treatment on the field.
Gipson denied leading with his helmet on the hit and admitted that it was "scary" to see Finley in such a serious situation.
"I've been playing this game for 17 years now, and I've never been involved in anything like that," Gipson is quoted as saying by ESPN.
"I've never been personally involved in something like this. It was a scary feeling, a scary sight, seeing a guy's body just limp like that out there. You definitely never want to see something like that happen. And the later effects of it. It's definitely unfortunate.
"All I can do is keep him in my prayers. I know he's got kids. I have kids, and I know I wouldn't want my kids having to see their dad going through something like that. My prayers are with him, and I hope he has a speedy recovery."
Green Bay went on to win the match 31-13 to improve to 4-2 for the season.
