British hopeful Heather Watson believes that her hard work has been rewarded after reaching the second round of the French Open.
The 20-year-old clinched a straight-sets victory over Elena Vesnina on the clay court this morning.
"I'm growing as a player now - I'll definitely be more ready," said Watson. "I've been working on my game to become a lot more aggressive.
"I don't really have a clay background. I just enjoy playing the long points, working hard for it and building the point instead of just trying to bash winners everywhere."
While Watson has forced her way through to the second round, it was the end of the road for fellow Brit Laura Robson, who crashed out of the tournament to Anabel Garrigues yesterday.
