Alex Dunbar facing up to nine months on sidelines through injury

Glasgow Warriors centre Alex Dunbar will miss the remainder of the season through an injury sustained on international duty with Scotland.

Scotland centre Alex Dunbar has been ruled out of action for up to nine months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

The 24-year-old Glasgow Warriors star was initially due to feature against England in this weekend's Calcutta Cup clash, although he damaged his knee just a few hours before the team departed for the Twickenham showdown.

Following a scan it was revealed by the Scotland medical team that Dunbar requires surgery, which will see him spend between six to nine months on the sidelines.

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has made five changes to his starting lineup for the meeting with England.
