Mike Tindall unsure of Gloucester Rugby future

Mike Tindall admits that his future at Gloucester Rugby is uncertain following the sacking of coach Nigel Davies.

Gloucester Rugby centre Mike Tindall has revealed that his future at the club is uncertain following the sacking of coach Nigel Davies.

Davies was dismissed by Gloucester on May 12 after the team's ninth-placed finish in the Aviva Premiership table.

Tindall, whose current contract expires in July, now admits that he does not know whether he will be staying on at Kingsholm Stadium next season.

"The discussion I had with Nigel was that I wanted to play another year and do the same role basically," the 35-year-old told The Telegraph. "What Nigel thought was best for the club was for me to stop playing and concentrate on coaching.

"So, that was where we were when things changed and Nigel left. So, I am sort of in limbo. If the new guy comes in and says 'I don't want you to coach, I want you to play for another year', I would do that. But if he came in and said I want you to just coach, I would have that discussion too. I would also be open to talking about a similar role to the one I have had which is combining the two.

"The only certainty at the moment is that Nigel's departure has put everything up in the air. It's almost put me back to where we were two years ago, before Nigel came in."

Tindall joined Gloucester from Bath in 2005.
