St George Illawarra Dragons beat Warrington Wolves in World Club Series

Warrington Wolves are edged out 18-12 in the World Club Series match against St George Illawarra Dragons.

St George Illawarra Dragons survived a second-half comeback from Warrington Wolves to clinch an 18-12 win in the World Club Series this evening.

Tyson Frizell put the visitors ahead just two minutes into the tie with a quick break from just inside Warrington territory, while Joel Thompson added a second inside the opening 20 minutes.

Ryan Atkins and Gareth O'Brien got the Wolves back into the tie before the break, but the latter missed the conversion on the second try to leave the hosts two points back at the interval.

Another kick from O'Brien levelled the scores early in the second half, but the visitors were soon ahead again when Josh Dugan pounced on a forward kick.

Joel Monaghan came close to an equalising try in the final minutes, but he juggled the pass before dropping the ball, leaving the hosts just short.
