Richard Stearman: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers promotion push back on'

Wolves defender Richard Stearman says that the team are eyeing the playoff places after taking 10 points from the last 12.

Richard Stearman has said that his Wolverhampton Wanderers teammates have set their sights on promotion to the Premier League after a string of good results put them within touching distance of the Championship playoff places.

The Midlands side's strong start to the campaign was undone by a disastrous run of five straight defeats in November, but 10 points from the last available 12 - including wins over high-flying Watford and Brentford - leave Wolves just three points off the top six.

"We have come off the back of a good few wins now and all a sudden we are looking up the league, thinking of the playoffs," defender Stearman told the Express & Star. "Six points in three days over the Christmas period makes it nicer.

"It has put us right back in the mix. We have had a good four games now and all of a sudden November is behind us and we are looking up. It sums the Championship up. You put a string of results together and you fly back up the league. We are getting back to where we feel we should be."

Next up for Kenny Jackett's men is a trip to fellow Championship side Fulham in the FA Cup on January 3, followed by a visit to ninth-placed Blackburn Rovers when league action resumes a week later.
