Gus Poyet 'unhappy' with Sunderland's summer transfer business

Gus Poyet says that he is "not happy" with Sunderland's transfer activity this summer.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has admitted that he is "not happy" with the club's business in the summer transfer window.

The North-East outfit recruited nine players but failed to land a number of targets, including Marcos Alonso and Fabio Borini, who opted to stay at Liverpool.

"It's very easy to say that I'm happy because then everybody will be delighted with my words, but at the same time, I am not happy - I am alright," Sky Sports News quotes Poyet as saying.

"We were expecting to have a certain number of players. We were very close to doing a couple of very important things - we didn't do it. Then we changed slightly and we got different players.

"We tried. We tried our best and what we got was the best we could do. I don't want really to reflect on how it went because it's not fair."

Sunderland will take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
