Mauricio Pochettino "proud" of Harry Kane's England call-up

Mauricio Pochettino says that call-ups to the England national side for Kyle Walker, Harry Kane and Andros Townsend is "very good news" for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that he feels "proud" to see Harry Kane earn a place in England's latest senior squad.

The Spurs striker has been in inspired form this season under the tenure of the former Southampton manager, scoring 26 goals in all competitions to spearhead his side's campaign.

Kane was today called-up to the national side for the first time by Roy Hodgson for games against Lithuania and Italy, while club teammates Kyle Walker and Andros Townsend were also given the nod.

"We're happy and Harry is obviously happy," Pochettino told reporters. "It's very good news for us and it's good news too that Kyle Walker and Andros Townsend are included too.

"We feel proud for him, so do his teammates. He is a special player for Tottenham having come through the academy. It's big news and always important for players when the national team calls you up. It's a great feeling."

Hodgson also hinted that Kane could be in line for a starting berth in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania.
