Emmanuel Adebayor considers a return to the Togo national team after he quit following a machine-gun attack on the team bus.

Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly considering a return to playing for his national team Togo.

The Tottenham striker quit as Togo captain following a gun attack on the team bus during the African Nations Cup in Angola last year, in which three of his friends were killed.

However, Togo FA vice-president Herve Piza has said that Adebayor is considering re-joining the team in their bid to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

"We hope and believe our efforts will come to fruition," Piza said.

"Adebayor expressed a desire to rejoin the team towards the end of the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying campaign.

"He eventually chose to stay back. But the World Cup is important to him."

Adebayor scored 18 goals in 42 appearances for Togo between 2000 and 2009.
