Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Klas Ingesson dies aged 46, losing his battle with cancer.

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Sweden midfielder Karl Ingesson has passed away, age 46.

Ingesson was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2009, but continued to manage native side Elfsborg until his death on Wednesday.

He spent two years at Hillsborough between 1994 and 1996, and also represented PSV Eindhoven, Marseille and Bari among other clubs during a 15-year playing career.

At international level, Ingesson made 57 caps for Sweden and was part of their 1990 and 1994 World Cup squads.
